The Loneliness of fate
I walked a path alone one night
Birds chattering in the fading light
When all at once my road was clear
A golden path to which I must adhere
As squirrels launch from limb to limb
I began to contemplate my fate so grim
For past had sealed my road ahead
All life in front of me now was dead
A solemn kiss, a lonely vow
Was that which fate had dealt no sheep or cow
My life, my death was mine alone
A once precious gem had been now turned to stone
